I’ve been a fan on The Lakers in this millennium era since the existence of what they call, Dynamic duo. Batman and Robin. Shaq and Kobe. Year in, year out. Win and Lose. But I wanted to focus this piece that I written particularly on this shortened season.
I’d boldly say that The Lakers are not even a contender this season. No I’m not selling my favorite team short. Having a 6-14 away records is not exactly a good stat. Below are the team’s boxscore from the last 6 game (Courtesy of Yahoo! Sports)

You can see the that this is a simple and perfect example of their Achilles Heel for all season long . See that mostly The Lakers got outscored or having a very low points output on the 2nd half. We can all say that age had finally caught up with them because Kobe, Fisher, Pau, World Peace are 30+ years old so stamina and endurance became a problem. Also, the relaxed mentality after having a big lead could definitely play a big role here but I think mostly it’s because of tired legs from age.

Maybe I’d like to comment about the player formerly known as Ron Artest and yes, that is his picture if you can’t believe your eyes. He came to the training camp out of shape. Right now, he can’t defend the faster Small Forwards and have the tendency to stay on the wing in the offensive end, however Ron is strong enough to post up and defend Power Forwards. Things that he refused to do, though.

The next problem that I can think of is their 3PT%. The Lakers shot a lowly 29.7% as a team. That’s the lowest on NBA. The Whole NBA. You read that right. The Lakers shot a very poor percentage as a team despite having 2 of the best 7-footer in Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. Some of the NBA Analysts blamed on poor spacing on offensive end while I’m also taking notes that Kobe always took a lot of attempts especially in Wizards game.

Some other things that other Laker fans complain is a fairly weak Laker bench in the terms of offensive productions. I’d like to point out that, perhaps Mike Brown failed on utilizing Steve Blake as the backup Point Guard or maybe it’s Steve Blake just wasn’t up to the task.
Ultimately if The Lakers kept losing, they will have to change its roster and obviously either Gasol or Bynum is the perfect trade bait and as the trade deadline nearing, the rumor is Gasol were the one that had to go.
Some may say it’s sad but in the end of the day it’s just business…
